What is CEFR?

CEFR stands for the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is an international scale used to describe how advanced a book's English is. Think of it as a difficulty rating for language. The higher the level, the more complex the vocabulary, sentences, and ideas.

B1
Lower Secondary — You follow everyday topics with ease. Books at this level have clear language and straightforward ideas. Good if you are in S1–S3.
B2
Upper Secondary — You can handle longer texts and wider topics. Sentences are more complex and you may need to look up the occasional word. Most S4–S6 students will manage here.
C1
Advanced — Challenging, demanding texts with sophisticated vocabulary. A stretch for most secondary students, but very rewarding if you are up for a challenge.
C2
University Level — Near-native fluency required. These books use highly complex, often literary or academic language. Reserved for very advanced readers.
